Intuitive and easy for business managers to use. Data must have a single reliable source: credible, timely. Transactions or analysis : database management systems. Design goal is performance: data warehouse systems. Design goal is ease of access and use. Data warehouse: on line transaction, on line analytical. Processing olap: focus on data trends and information. Aggregate / summary data: read write, current, large, read only, recent, very large (larger) Data warehouse: predictable, data is dynamic, repetitive processing, not predictable, data is largely static, unstructured, transaction driven processing, analysis driven. A repository providing access to integrated corporate data for management and decision support analysts.
