The national agenda identifies 3 dimensions for multicultural policy. 1) cultural identity > the right of all australians to express their cultural heritage including language and religion. 2) social justice > the right of all australians to equal treatment and opportunity and removal of race/ethnic/cultural/religious/gender barriers. 3) economic efficiency > the need to effectively use the skills and talents of all. Multiculturalism isn"t the same as cultural diversity but it can be a response to it. Levey: multiculturalism addresses the tensions between cultural-nationalists and liberal-democrats. Australian citizenship test had random questions which aren"t valid. After federation in 1901, the white australia policy was one of the first acts of the new government.
