Since 1992 the no. of people chronically undernourished has declined by 216m people, despite an increase in pop. over the same period = decline of 20%! Yet 1/9 people (11%) of the global pop. are chronically undernourished: 795m people. The vast majority (roughly 700m) live in developing countries. Famine is the most extreme manifestation of: the existence of poverty, It painfully reminds us of the absurdity of having people en masse dying of starvation in the midst of the world"s abundance of food and calories, - rubin 2016, 8. Famines are most often referred to as human made phenomenons . You need particular logistics, infrastructure, good governance to develop the knowledge based around food security. Developing, poorer countries seem to have difficulties doing this, particularly those who have gone/are going through civil and political strife. Not enough of the right kinds of food.
