The invention of literature: the ethical side of romantic literature/poetry, the romantics shifted literature from being purely descriptive to a more prescriptive/evaluative sense of things - things that say important things about the culture that we live in. Thomas chatterton: english poet whose precocious talents ended in suicide at age 17. He became a heroic tragic figure in romantic art. Modelling literature on religion - allows your whole spirit to breathe.
