It is estimated that almost 1 in 7 young people aged between 4 and 17, were assessed as having a mental health disorder in the previous 12 months. Comorbidity: more than 1 in 10 adults with a mental disorder in the last 12 months also experienced a physical disorder. Burden of disease: mental disorders come in third and are the leading cause of the non-fatal burden, the burden of disease looks at the fatal and non-fatal impact of a disease on our society. The main ones we will focus on are anxiety and depression. The top 5 burdens of disease include cancer, cvd, mental disorders, musculoskeletal and injuries.
