Event Creation – 5 W’s:
• Why are we putting on the event?
• Who do we want to come to the event?
• When is the best time to stage the event?
• Where is the best place to stage the event?
• What concept or idea will best serve the
purposes of the event?
Viability of the event:
• PESTLE
• Competition
• Regulation (requirements, councils, permits, access, parking, traffic, noise, capacity)
• Marketing (advertising, publicity, ticket management)
• Community Impact (indirect or direct)
• Risk (weather, technical failure, performance cancellation, transport crisis, accidents)
• Revenue & Expenditure (cash flow, profit vs. loss, outgoings vs. income)
Theme:
• Should be linked to purpose
• Be compatible with guests and be respectful
Staging the event:
• Accessibility (legalities, building codes, lifts, surfaces, entries & exits, doorways & doors, floors, toilets,
signage, transport, parking, footpaths, ramps & stairways)
• Inspection of event site (cleanliness, markings, maintenance, lighting, perimeters, waste disposal
provided, entries & exits clearly marked, non-slip stairs, compliance)
• Event plans (Parking, public transport, entrances, exits, emergency access/procedures, disability access,
