Document Summary
Children with movement difficulties in the gym and in the classroom - modifications for. Some children have difficulty mastering fms and their movement looks awkward and erratic. After you have observed them in a variety of contexts you may become concerned. You may also notice that they are having difficulties in other areas of the curriculum and other teachers may comment. Also affect functional skills e. g. buttons and shoelaces. Dcd is marked impairment in the development of motor coordination which cannot be attributed to a general medical condition or mental retardation (visser, 2003) Dcd is commonly associated with other developmental conditions, including attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (adhd), learning disabilities (ld), speech-language delays and emotional and behavioural problems (canchild, 2016). Examples of movement issues in the classroom: poor posture in manual tasks. Immature grip: untidy work, handwriting size and shape inappropriate, slow to finish work, frequent bumping into things, dropping items from desk, problems with shoelaces, buttons, very disruptive or extremely quiet.
