Psychosis- it refers to disturbance in emotions and perceptions, feeling of disconnection from reality (hallucinations/delusion). Signs and symptoms of psychosis: talking to herself, she thinks people are watching her (scared, hallucination, depressed, cardboards at windows (isolated, paranoid, picking at her skin (substance abuse, wants to die. Command hallucination- are voiced directing to do something (high risk, e. g. - commanding to jump from bridge) Questions: what can cause psychosis, what is schizophrenia, what causes (theories) schizophrenia, identify positive/negative symptoms, dsm content- schizophrenia. Answer 1: brain biochemistry, genetics, early childhood development, life experiences, drug use, stress, malaria, electrolyte imbalance, trauma. It refers to combination of mental disorders (hallucination, delusion, disorganised speech) Its onset mainly in young adulthood, male- earlier dromalphase. Answer 3: the exact causes of schizophrenia are unknown. These changes aren"t seen in everyone with schizophrenia and can occur in people who don"t have a mental illness.
