MIRA2004 Lecture 6: T&L spine 2
Document Summary
Intervertebral foramina l1-l4, lumbar vertebral bodies, intervertebral joint spaces, spinous and transverse processes and l5-s1 junction are visible. Vertebral column is aligned parallel to ir as indicated by the following: intervertebral foramina appearing open; intervertebral joint spaces appearing open. No patient rotation is indicated by the superimposed greater sciatic notches and posterior vertebral bodies. The spinal column should be seen centred to the collimated field at approximate level of l3. Optimal exposure should demonstrate the vertebral bodies and joint spaces. Align mid-coronal plane to cr and midline of ir. Raise patie(cid:374)t"s ar(cid:373)s to right a(cid:374)gles to (cid:271)od(cid:455) with elbows flexed. Upport patie(cid:374)t"s (cid:449)aist so lo(cid:374)g a(cid:454)is of spine is near parallel to table ensure that no rotation of shoulders or pelvis exists. Cr: 7. 5cm anterior to the 3rd lumber spinous process at the level of the lower costal; cassette centred to cr. Patient lies supine (rpo&lpo) with ar(cid:373)s pla(cid:272)ed at patie(cid:374)t"s sides.
