Hormonal synthesis: endocrine gland stimulated by other hormones. The pituitary gland is called a neuroendocrine organ as it is part of the brain and the endocrine system. Midbrain & hindbrain make up the brain stem. Lateral fissure: separates temporal lobe from the rest of the cerebrum. Central sulcus: separates frontal lobe from parietal lobe. Frontal lobe: voluntary motor function, motivation, planning, aggression, smell, regulation of emotion and mood. Parietal lobe: majority of sensory input, except smell, hearing, taste and vision. Temporal lobe: role in memory, receives and processes smell and hearing. Consists of deeps portions of the cerebrum that forms a ring around the diencephalon. Generates reflex movements of the head, eyes and body. E. g. turning eyes to focus on a bright light in the peripheral vision. Regulates mood, memory and strong emotion, e. g. fear and rage.
