Know about one genus one family from every week from each of the major six groups from the flowering plants. Understand what characterises the eudicots and how they differ from dicots, monocots and basal angiosperms (again!!!) The asterids include of all angiosperms, including the ericales and two major clades - lamids and companulids. The ericales include the ericaceae leucopogon. Lamids include lamiaceae, lentibulariaceae - utricularia, byblidaceae, solanaceae solanum. The companulids include the asterales (asteraceae, goodeniaceae, stylidaceae - stylidium) and the apiales (apiaceae) The asterales are noted for plunger pollination. I suggest knowing in some detail about at least 1 genus and 1 family from each of weeks 5, 6, 7 & 8. Dicots include monophyletic eudicots & other families (e. g. magnoliaceae, lauraceae, piperaceae, Two cotyledons found in gymnosperm order gnetales.
