(Round brackets followed by number) This is for Volumes that are numerically numbered
(1920) 28 CLR 129
- 28 represents volume 28
- CLR represents what law report (Common law report)
[Square brackets no number followed] This is when volume is listed in year
[1932] AC 562
- 562 represents what page number it starts
- AC represents
Qb- Queens bench
Kb- Kings bench
Example a
AvB (2006) 58 SASR 97, 107 (Doyle CJ)
- AVB in italics
- 97= page number it starts at
- 107= pinpoint what actual number it starts on

Mark Lowe, How to succeed when students fail Legal Education Review 17.
-Mark L= Authors name
- Then name of article
- Year it was published, followed by volume, 2 is the issue
-Name of journal in italics
- 17 name of page
