Heredity provides the biological basis for a reaction range in the expression of traits. States that growth follows a pattern that begins with the head and moves down the rest of the body. The brain develops quicker than any other organ in early childhood. 1 yr old- triples in weights from birth and is 70% of its adult weight. 2 yrs old- brain is 75% of its adult weight. 5 yrs old- brain is 90% of its adult weight. The group of gross motor skills that include one of the biggest physical development milestones of all for young children: walking! Locomotor skills are those in which the feet move the body from one place to another.
