Document Summary

Everything in the world is made out of mater. Smallest indivisible part that sill has the properies of the element. The nucleus at the center of the atom. Most of the mass in the atom is in the nucleus because electrons do not weigh much. Mass number number of protons + number of neutrons. Wriing symbols mass number on top, atomic number is at the botom. Posiive charges of protons balanced out by negaive charges of electrons (number of electrons = number of protons). Electron arrangements - electrons are found at diferent distances from the nucleus energy levels. Chapter 2 vocabulary: states of mater solid, liquid and gas, mater anything that has mass and takes up space. There is nothing else in it: it has no contaminaing impuriies. A pure subtance melts and boils at deinite temperatures: centrifugaion where the mixture is spun at high speed in a centrifuge.
