There are many transforming powers of being in a group, like making you more confident. Dyad: group consisting of exactly two people. Triad: group with three people (less stable than dyads) Georg simmel discovered that the different group dynamics between two and three people was very different. Primary groups: group consisting of intimate and long lasting relationships, they have powerful influnce of the persons personality and self identity (ex: family members) primary groups need expressive needs meaning emotional support/intimacy. Reference groups: you may or may not belogn to this group, but you use them as a standard for things such as values, attitudes, and behaviors.
