Aspects of personality disorders: chronic, personality disorder: a persistent pattern of emotions, cognitions, and behavior that results in enduring emotional distress for the person affected and/or for others and may cause difficulties with work and relationships. May not feel subjective distress, others may feel acutely distressed because of the actions of the person with the disorder. Personality disorder clusters: cluster a: odd or eccentric cluster. Schizotypal: cluster b: dramatic, emotional, or erratic cluster. Narcissistic: cluster c: anxious or fearful cluster. Gender differences: men diagnosed display characteristics that are usually more aggressive, structured, self-assertive, and detached. Antisocial: women diagnosed display characteristics that are more submissive, emotional, and insecure. Criteria for disorder may be biased itself criterion gender bias. Assessment measures and the way they are used may be biased. Assessment gender bias: usually comorbid with other personality disorders. Personality disorders under study: sadistic receive pleasure in inflicting pain on others, passive-aggressive defiant and refuse to cooperate with requests.
