Chapter 5: acquisition of memories and the working- The route into memory: information processing: complex mental events require steps, each step occurs one by one, consensus model of acquisition = modal model. Intention to learn: pay attention to what materials mean deep processing, same outcome with or without intention, intention has an indirect effect: knowing what works best for you; approach to memory. Connections promote retrieval: learning provides a path for memory retrieval; establishes memory connections, memory connections allow one memory to trigger another and another and so on, attention to meaning involves relationships, more complicated relationships improve memory.
