Psychology is considered a science because researchers have to observe humans or animals in order to study their behavior and mental processes. They use the scientific method, a system of gathering data so the bias and error is reduced. The steps are perceive the question, develop hypothesis, test hypothesis, draw conclusions, report results and replicate. It is using introspective reports to build a view of the mind"s structure. It is the school of thought that psychological process have a function to help us survive as individuals and adapt as species. It is the study of cognitive psychology that studies perception and sensation. Based on freud"s ideas, for a professional to gain insight into and change a person"s behavior. It focused only on observable behavior, something that could be directly seen and measured.
