Interactional view two-way process; exchange of info between sender and receiver. Communication is complete when feedback conveys that the information was understood. Transactional view roles of sender and receiver are more blended. Participants are in both roles at the same time. Participants are generally equals in communicating meaning. Interpersonal communication is a complex, transactional process through which people create shared meanings through continuously and simultaneously. Communication through multiple channels (mediums through which messages are transmitted) Visual and auditory; touch; facial expressions/body language. Different environments can affect communication and interpretation. Physical noise - sounds and visual distractions. Physiological noise - internal conditions (hearing loss, discomfort, etc) Psychological noise - prejudicial or emotional barrier - creates things like biases. It is unavoidable - messages are continuously exchanged. It is irreversible - cannot edit past conversations. It has both content and relational dimensions - explicit info and how they feel. Perspective - how we interact with and understand the world.
