Assemble meaningful materials - visuals, equipment, manipulatives, audio, worksheets, graphic organizers, etc. Preparation - analyze and use prior knowledge; overview and objectives of new topic; identify new vocabulary; brainstorming, graphic organizers, concrete activities, teacher demos, role play, etc. Presentation - new info is presented & explained; text is introduced after initial understanding; monitoring and modify language; use various modes of presentation. Practice - hands-on activities; exploratory discussions; cooperation and collaboration; strategic activities. Evaluation - students check level of performance and learn how to appropriately self-evaluate. Expansion - integrate new info and skills; higher-order thinking skills used in discussions; students reflect on what they learn.
