Document Summary

Sensation - process of changing external stimuli into internal (neural) messages. The study of the sensory organs and how they perform sensory transduction. Perception - is the interpretation of those messages. The study of how the brain interprets sensations, giving them order and meaning. We live in our heads & external world gets in our heads only through our senses. Perception allows us to examine how our own brains work - is the gateway to neuroscience. Devices to assist people with vision and hearing losses. 7 steps of attention light reflects from stimuli that allows us to capture info about it. light is transformed and hits back of eye which causes receptor processing (rods and cones) and neural processing (neuron signals) until in form brain can understand/recognize (perception), then we respond to info stimuli- steps 1 and 2: environmental stimulus. Environmental stimulus- all objects in the environment that are available to the observer.
