Somatic symptom disorders and dissociative disorders are strongly linked. Somatic symptom disorder, illness anxiety disorder, psychological factors affecting other medical conditions, conversion disorder, and factitious disorder. Pathologically concerned about functioning of their bodies. Lots of time and energy spent worrying. Medical cause may or may not be known. One or more somatic symptoms that are distressing/result in significant disruption of daily life. (1) disproportionate and persistent thoughts about the seriousness of one"s symptoms; (3) excessive time and energy devoted to these symptoms or health concerns. Although any one symptom may not be continuously present, the state of being symptomatic is persistent (6months) May or amy not have clear physical reason for the pain. Avoid exercising; in fear that it will make them weaker". Her symptoms were her identity: without them she would not know who she was. Anxiety and distress, which compounds the severity and impairment associated with the physical symptoms.
