38 views4 pages

Document Summary

Started in paris when the people took down the government. Were popular uprisings aimed to give the people more freedom and to move towards some form of more left wing/liberal government. In some areas, communism was on the agenda. All of these revolutions succeeded for a time, but they all failed. The people then either lost their will to revolt or they were crushed further. The old system came back into place because the revolutions weren"t organized -- once they won they had no gameplan for what to do next. Not disheartened by the failure of the 1848 revolutions as they saw them as precursors for future, global ones. Outlined the ideas of communism and the need for revolution. Different from the utopian socialists because they weren"t trying to fix a broken system, but completely dismantle a broken one in favor of a better one. Born to a conservative upper middle class family.
