Indian wars and railroads linked: threatening resources that were vital to the plains indians, created military posts to protect railroad construction and travelers, soldiers sent west sometimes deserted, wanting to go home instead of following orders to fight. In the west, federal government took on policy that was deemed too radical for the south during. Land system gave people land that did not need it and didn"t do anything to it, while it denied it from people that did need it.
