Title vii of the civil rights act u. s. Federal law the prohibits employers from discriminating against employees on the basis of sex/race/color/national origin/religion. Difference between the equal pay act and title vii. Generally applies to employers with 15+ employees and labor organizations. Applies to private and public colleges and universities, employment agencies, Title vii"s coverage is much broader than the epa"s. The epa only prohibits wage discrimination based on sex. Title vii bars all employment discrimination in more categories: john vs. jennifer, a battle of the sexes. Scientists may be significantly less likely to agree to mentor/offer jobs/recommend equal salaries to a candidate if the name at the top of the resume is jennifer rather than john. Moss- racusin study: the top (john or jennifer) Jennifer was perceived as significantly less competent compared to john. Two versions of the resume were produced that varied in only the name at. The decision-makers did not evaluate the resume purely on its merits.
