Document Summary

I agree with the author on his belief that trade routes helped facilitate the spread of religion and find it fascinating how it was able to adapt and survive. The early mongols goes into detail on the mongol empire, which was the most powerful empire of its time, and how it went about governing its territories. The mongols were tolerant of foreigners and other religions which led to increased trade, but they also committed atrocities. I find it surprising that an empire could be so evil at times, yet so tolerant and understanding. Hinduism is about hinduism and its influence it has played around the globe since it is a global religion. The author really goes into focus on how hindu ideas and practices are basically westernized which results in them not being linked to hinduism but rather to spirituality or health benefits, like yoga.
