High fertility, high mortality, and only very slow population growth. Hunting-gathering society required a large amount of space, and grew enough just to push the limit of the carrying capacity of their way of life. 10,000 years ago: agricultural revolution- the population of the world was approx. Many argue that the agricultural revolution occurred slowly, but pervasively across earth. This was due to the natural movement of humans moving into remote corners of earth in search of sustenance. Eventually, people began to use resources more intensively, leading to a more agricultural, sedentary way of life. Started first in middle east, then in eastern china. The number of people that can be supported in an area given the available physical resources and the way that people use those resources.
