We search for the possibility of life outside earth, or extraterrestrial life . This can be simple, complex, or intelligent, and we are okay with there not being any either. We used to think venus would be great, but we quickly found out that it was hell. Then we looked at mars, which looks more like a pile of dust squished together. All fields of human intelligence is related to the search for life. Through astronomy , we learned that our long held geo-centric , or earth-centered, view of the universe where everything revolved around the earth, was false. We also found that there were actually extrasolar planets, or planets that orbit stars aside from our steamy sun. Through planetary science , we researched how planets differ, thus finding conditions for a planet to be habitable , i. e. whether it can inhabit life.
