When everyone in the organization interprets the culture the same way and describes the culture in similar terms, the culture is strong and consistent. This type of culture has the advantages of: An accounting department has a bureaucratic, rule-driven culture, while the marketing department has a loose, creative culture. Both of these subcultures should support the overall organizational culture as much as possible. James l. zazzali and colleagues : studied the satisfaction level of ,593 physicians in 52 medical group practices across the us, organizational culture accounted for variances in their satisfaction levels. This point is important for managers whose hco is affiliating with physicians by buying or merging with their medical groups. Hospitals and health systems usually have different organizational cultures than medical groups do : especially small medical groups with just a few physicians. In merger situations, managers must intentionally plan what kind of culture they want for the merged organization.
