These affect how you provide for children"s development, education and care: many social issues children face today are putting them as risk for learning and success. Socioeconomic status greatly in uences a child"s success in school. The income achievement gap, appears early and persists over a students lifetime. Achievement gap-the difference in performance between low income and minority students compared to their peers: maternal education also has an affect on a child"s education. If a mother has a ba or higher the child is more likely to have higher cognitive and behavioral measures. Teaching expertise has a high correlation to student performance and eliminating achievement gaps. Frequently less quali es teachers are put into low-income communities and thus not helping those communities become better. A primary goal of early childhood education is to meet children"s needs in culturally and developmentally appropriate ways.
