Among undecided, automatic associations at time 1 predicted both the choice they would make & conscious thoughts at time 2. Conscious thinking affected automatic associations & decision - making. Our conscious thoughts can be affected by unconscious processes that produce our emotions. Although consciousness may not control immediate action, it can & does affect action indirectly by influencing the settings of our automatic thought processes. Narrative - moe in which we understand ourselves & others as people who have intentions that meet vicissitudes. Vicissitudes - problems w/ ogals & intentions. Event where emotions in a person meet with a community. Emotion regulation - changing an emotion"s intensity or duration.
