Ex: pitch, accent, how quickly or slowly someone speaks. Ex: smiley face, bold letters, exaggerated punctuation (!!!) Approx 60-65% of social meaning is derived from nonverbal behaviors. People also rely more on nonverbal than verbal communication to send positive. Nonverbal communication is powerful because it is usually seen as more believable than verbal messages. When interpreting messages, people often pay more attention to the visual channel, which includes facial expressions & body movement, than to the verbal channel.
