Information-as-process: act of informing, communication of knowledge, being told something, intangible. Information-as-knowledge: knowledge communicated that concerns a fact, subject, or event, it is what one is told intelligence/news, something that reduces uncertainty, intangible; must be communicated in some physical way. Signal, text, communication which are information as thing. Information-as-thing: what things are informative, data, text, documents, objects, events. Example: dinosaur fossil: evidence for events. Objects w/ evidence associated w/ events representations in photos, reports, memoirs, etc: documents are descriptions/representations of things. Photos, written descriptions, films, books, diagrams: information storage/retrieval systems, imparts knowledge, communicates information; is instructive, tangible. Therefore it is not knowledge: representations of knowledge. As a film is of an event: texts, photos, etc. are evidence. Does not necessarily need to be agreed with nor accurate/useful. Overall definition denote things regarded as informative. Everything can be informative in some sense. Determine whether information is pertinent to individual/goal.
