Document Summary

Lucas tozzi: motivation is what drives someone to do something. There are three types: biological= needs must be met for survival like hunger thirst, stimulus= need for stimulation and information c. Learned= pull of external stimuli, social in nature eg. running for election for power: a need is an internal deficiency. This causes a drive to develop to satisfy that need. The incentive value is the pull of the goal or the goals appeal beyond its ability to fill a need: homeostasis is bodily equilibrium. The set point is the level at which a variable is regulated. For instance a thermostat is set to ideal temp and heating turns on or off to keep room temp around that ideal temp: circadian rhythm is changes in body function on a 24 hour daily schedule. Some examples include body temp, blood pressure, liver and kidney activities and aa levels: takes about 2 weeks to properly adjust to difference of 5+ hours.
