Lack of local instrumentation creates challenge for long-term climate studies. Has highest altimtude forest in the world. Agriculture is not a viable means of local production (arid climate, cold temperatures) Peatlands are 1 of 6 primary vegetation classes in the park. Most important class because it has the highest biomass of any other vegetation class.
