The x-axis is the independent variable while the y-varible is the dependent for line graphs. Continuous variable- is a variable that could have an infinite number of values along a continuum. If a variable can take on any value between two specified values, it is called a continuous variable; otherwise, it is called a discrete variable. Discrete or categorical would be how many times have you flipped a coin. Dichotomous data- consists of sub categories of categorical data. Only two values yes or no, absent or present, pregnant or not pregnant.
