Many times, the expectations that are placed onto a governor by the citizens are drastically similar towards those of the president. The governor must coordinate the state"s bureaucracy, oversee the preparation of the state"s budget, and supervise major state programs. They must also resolve conflicts within their administration and troubleshoot where difficulties arise. The governor is responsible for initiating major statewide legislative programs. They must directly involve themselves in legislative decisions. Veto power: rejection of proposed legislation by the governor. Can focus on line-item veto which allows the governor to veto specific items in a bill that will benefit an individual district by not others.
