Disorder- dsm-v says persistent maladaptive behaviors resulting in personal distress or impaired functioning. Harmful dysfunction- the condition causes harm, disruptions of thought, feeling comm, perception, motivation. Dsm-v- the official classification system, updated by the american psychiatric association in 2013. Epidemiology- study of the frequency/distributions of disorders within a population. Incidence- # of new cases of a disorder that appear in a population during a specific period of time. Lifetime prevalence- proportion of people in a given population affected by the disorder at some point in their lives. Comorbidity- the presence of more than one condition within the same period.
