Group- a set of individuals who have: Direct interaction with each other over a period of time and share same goals, identity, etc. Collective- an assembly of people engaging in a common activity but having little direct interaction with each other. People standing at an intersection to cross the street is an example of a collective. People attending church can be both a group or a collective, depends on what happens there. Working one on one on a project (group of 2- dyad) is also a group. Social facilitation- a situation whereby the presence of others enhances performance on easy tasks and impairs performance on difficult task triplett- fish reeling studies. Iv: either alone or in presence of other kids. Children has to wind fishing reel as fast as they could. Results: children wound up reeling faster when around other kids than alone. Later findings ended up with conflicting findings.
