Support process: those that you have to do to support the overall running of the business. Development process: those that we do to try and improve the primary and support processes. Mapping: the process of developing graphic representations of the organizational relationship and/or activities that make up a business process. Process map: identifies the specific activities that make up the information, physical, or monetary flow of a process. Identify the entity that will serve as the focal point. Identify clear boundaries and starting and ending points. Swim lane process map: a process map that graphically arranges the process steps so that the user can see who is responsible for each step. Example: restaurant, host, waitress, cook, & cashier are all involved in helping the customer.
