Genre = suite for violin and piano. Melody = bluesy, short, syncopated ideas, w flatted 3rd and 7th scale tones; ideas exchanged b/t violin and piano. Rhythm/meter = quick 2/4 meter; rhythmic and highly syncopated, w chords played on off beats. Harmony = modal, w blues chords; stride bass; use of ostinatos. Form = sectional form, w 4- and 8-measure ideas; opening returns frequently. Timbre = violin trills, glissandos, and double stops.
