1.) Preface
• 2001: Arab women’s activists call for Palestinian’s right to self-determination and
resist censorship of Arab voices on various media platforms
• Silencing of Arab women and Arab women activists was common place
• Must continue naming oppressors or else they remain invisible among
contemporary people’s struggles
2.) Introduction
• Post 9/11: Bush administration utilizes climate to justify increased support of
Israel
• Definition of Zionism: settler-colonial political movement that seeks to ethnically
cleanse historical Palestine of the indigenous population and populate itself as a
Jewish only state- given credibility through biblical stories
• “Israel is a racist state that is founded upon a racist ideology that protects and
preserves the rights of Jews only”
3.) Historical Background: Zionism and Colonialism
• 1880: Theodore Herzl, Germany, Argued for need to create independent Jewish
state since Jewish people could never assimilate. The movement chose Palestine
in order to use its religious history as justification.
• Britain recognized the potential for this to further their political and economic
gain: assisted in exporting 610,000 Jews to Palestine. Genocide of WW2 created
more reason for mass exodus of Jewish people.
• 1948: Zionists take Palestine over with force, displacing 750,000 Palestinians. In
1967 Israel took over the remainder of Palestine. Israel was constructed
specifically to remove the natives. Since 1967, no country has received as much
US aid as Israel.
• US and Great Britain have provided Israel with funds and machinery to illegally
move over 4 million Jews to Palestine. Thousands of Palestinians have been killed
and 500,000 have been displaced.

• Israel defies international rights law and hundreds of UN human rights resolutions
• Zionist organizations utilize infiltration, fear and the violation of civil rights, often
proliferated on college campuses
• Zionism is a politically organized racial project that directly and systematically
targets Arabs and Arab Americans
