Sacred symbols become powerful when people collectively invest in them. Feeling that life is worth living, reality is meaningful, and the universe isn"t just chaos. Adherence to certain principles to lead a moral life. General movement away from religiosity and spiritual belief and toward a rational, scientific orientation. Presence of numerous distinct religious groups in one society. Positive: diverse religions can develop a common sense of community. Different churches pulling resources for the common good. If you have too many choices then your canopy will rip.
