Hellenism- cultural unity to large area- afghanistan to europe, borrowing and influencing of ideas between cultures. Some of components of western civilization originated in cultural encounters between greeks and non-greeks. Hellenistic era ended in 30 bce- roman ruler octavian brought an end to. Ptolemaic dynasty which had ruled egypt since death of alexander.
