Document Summary

We go through everyday thinking, acting, and feeling, showing attitudes and characteristics that make up each of our own unique personalities. Personality, a very hard to study field, can explain our human characteristics in many different ways and perspectives. Sigmund freud, still exist today as an explanation for personality using biological causes and the role of the unconscious mind. The behavioral/social-cognitive theory was started on the principles of learning and the effect of the environment on behavior. The humanistic perspective, originally fighting the psychoanalytic and behaviorist perspectives, is mainly focused on the role of each person"s conscious life experiences and choices in personality development. All three of these principals have the goals to explain the process that causes the formation of personality and our unique characteristics. Unlike the other three, the trait perspective theory is concerned with the characteristics themselves and our end result. Preconscious, conscious, and unconscious are the three divided parts of the mind.
