KIN 2500 Chapter : Anatomy Chapter 3 Outline
Document Summary
Epithelial tissue: cover all of body surfaces, line organs, helps form glands. Connective tissue: protect and support body and organs, have reserves for fat, help provide our immunity; most abundant because it include the blood. Muscular tissue: generates force , generates body heat. Nervous tissue: detect changes in environment (internal and external), send out signals that help control and coordinate body activities. Tissue: group of similar cells with same origin , functions, and will be all over the body. Cell junctions: cell are connected through these. There are five major types of cell junctions. Tight junctions: really tight together (mostly epithelial, tight seals) mostly in lining of gi tract not much can get through there so stuff stay in, i. e. bladder. Adherens junctions: tightly bound but move a little more, epithelial, help them stick together and stay together so they do not pull apart (adhere); i. e. the stomach. This help things stay together when they contract.
