IE 4461 Chapter : HW Ch7
Document Summary
The primary objective is to accommodate the workers in the resulting design such that they can work with the equipment, machinery, panels, and other people effectively with no health or safety hazard. Because the resulting design must allow the operator to carry out the required task in the sequence called for. Human performance will be degraded significantly if signals and information of interest cannot be seen. Proper and timely acquisition of such information is of primary importance: clearance- clearances for the trunk, the legs, the head, the knees, the feet, and so on, are essential in any design to be used by humans. Access and egress space must be provided at each work area. Clearances also isolate the worker from potential injury. This also prevents chairs from rolling out to the aisle. Work surface height and inclination may be adjustable to accommodate people of different sizes.
