The industrial revolution slowly created new classes, profoundly changing lives. Thomas malthus: wrote the malthusian trap: the population grows as the food supply grows and said that the population will out strip the food supply, this was written before the industrial revolution and the idea was proven. The west is becoming dominant and wealthy: introduction. There were new ideas in response to the french and industrial revolutions. The french revolution set the agenda for the 19th century. The ideas were liberalism, conservatism, socialism, and nationalism: liberalism. Does not have the same meaning as today.
