ENGL 2027 Chapter : A Rose For Emily Camilo
Document Summary
William faulkner was an american author who mostly wrote about the southern way of life. He develops round characters while narrating the story in a nonlinear way. In this time period there was a clash between the old and the new as much as there was one with the north and the south. Emily was the daughter of a well known colonel, whose large contribution of money to the town exempted him and his daughter emily from paying taxes. When her father died, all he had left was the house, in which he left for emily to keep. As time went on, a newer and younger regimen began to manage the town, and they felt that emily shouldn"t be excused from paying taxes. The leaders of the town attempted every year to get her paying taxes but she simply told them was that she didn"t have to.
