Chapter 7- emotionsyour feelings and response to others feelings. 1. valence- if an emotion is positive or negative. 2. activity- whether an emotion is active or passive, what you want to do with an emotion. Emotional intensity- the strength of an emotion, emotional strengths are not all equal. Biological theory of emotion; emotions are biologically based. Problem is it says that all emotions should be experienced similarly. Social interaction; expression and intensity of an emotion is based on our communication of other and cultural background. Biological differences; women are better than men at picking up nonverbal pieces of emotions. Meta emotion; a meta that we have about an emotion ( someone who is a thrill seeker has a meta for excitement) Emotional intelligence; our ability to communicate emotions in an appropriate way as well as recognize other people"s emotion.
